On one odd night, there was a little girl and her whole family, they were at a party at their cousins house. When the little girl wanted to go for a walk, she saw a big eye in a bush. The little girl was named Mina. When the eye looked back at her, she was immediately frozen. She could not move not one bit.
The older sister, Ari, came out. She wanted to go for a walk too. She saw the evil eye but it did not look back at her. She ran to the neighbors house, luckily she knew them and did not get in to any trouble. She told the neighbor, "I saw a big eye out there." The neighbor gasped. "You can see it too!", the neighbor said. "Pack up all your things, go home, and never look back," the neighbor said.
Ari was frightened. She ran back to her cousins house. She told her mother what the neighbor had said. Her mom said, "nonsense, we'll stay here for the night."
What the mother thought was nonsense was deadly.
Lewis, one of Ari's cousins, went out to turn off the garage lights. The garage was open, he did not know why. The inside garage door control was ripped off. He would have to go outside to shut it. When he went outside he noticed something was different. The house was on a huge hill that had not been there before. He got very frightened. Lewis had known of the evil eye since he was a baby. The neighbor had told him that it was killed. But the evil eye was alive. Out of nowhere the evil eye came and froze Lewis.
When Ari went to bed, her mom came to tuck her in. The mother said, "Have you seen your cousin Lewis and your sister?" Ari gasped. "They are missing?", Ari asked. "Mom, I told you we could not stay here, it is the evil eye, it strikes again", Ari said. The mother said, "Nonsense. They probably went to the park and Mina did not want to leave. I bet they are on their way home right now." When her mother left, Ari could not sleep. She was afraid of what might happen to her family, her friends, and herself.
That same night Lewis' dad went outside to find the garage lights still on. He yelled, "Lewis, why are these lights till on?" He saw the evil eye, it did not look back at him. He was very lucky. He ran inside. He told Ari's mom what he had seen. She did not believe him, "nonsense", she said. She continued, "You are starting to sound like Ari."
That night, a kid from across the street who Ari knew, snuck in through the window. Ari was fast asleep, she woke up thinking the evil eye was in her room. It was really just her friend, Barley. Barley said, "What is wrong, did I scare you?" Ari said, "Can I tell you a secret?" Barley said, "sure." Ari said, "Have you ever heard of the evil eye?" Barley gasped, "I have known of the legend since I was five. I thought it was just a story. Have you noticed anyone missing?" Ari said, "Yes, my cousin and my sister." "Then I must tell you the story so you will be prepared for what will happen to them", said Barley. Ari had no idea what he was talking about.
Barley said, " A long time ago, when the Egyptians built the pyramids, the evil eye belonged to one of the pharaoh's. When the pharaoh died, the eye continued to live. The eye was meant for good not evil. But when the pharaoh's sarcophagus was to go on display at a museum the evil eye was enraged. He did not want the pharaoh to be moved. From that day forward the evil eye has vowed to kill every human in the world. First he freezes his victim. He carries them with his optic nerve to his hideout. No one knows where his hideout is. It is said that when he takes them to his hideout, he uses his optic nerve to split them in two. Then he goes inside their body and takes out one of their eyes. He freezes the eye temporarily, about an hour later they thaw and then there is another evil eye."
Ari gasped, "Is there any way to stop it?" Barley took a long breath, "There is only one way. You must take 4 people in to the hideout and kill all the eyes you find there." His hideout cannot be too far", Barley said.
Back downstairs, Ari's mom went to turn off the garage light. She saw the evil eye and froze solid. Barley left, he thought he heard someone coming. It was Ari's uncle. He said, come with me to the garage. Ari saw a single frozen finger left on the floor, it was her mother's. Ari screamed. As she screamed the sun began to rise. Ari had tears in her eyes. "I am going to kill that evil thing before it takes anyone else", she said angrily. She wondered how she would find 3 people to go with her. My uncle will help, but I am not sure if BaiLee and Terrence will be willing she thought. Maybe Barley would come.
She went to Barley and he agreed to come and help. Then they all went to find BaiLee. They convinced her to come with them. They would have to go at sunset. The portal to the hideout only opens at sunset.
At sunset they heard a big boom. We went to the neighbors house to see if he had seen anything. In the middle of the kitchen was a huge portal. BaiLee, Barley, and Ari's uncle jumped through. Ari went to get the neighbor. She told him, "Take care of Terrence. If we are not back by tomorrow, take him far away from here." Ari jumped through the portal and it closed behind her.
They were in a dimension they had never seen before.
